Subdomain Merge

Subdomain Merge

Review and merge companies with related domains

Overview

Subdomain Merge finds company records that share a root domain or use its subdomains. An optional mode also suggests matching domain names across extensions, such as example.com and example.net.

Every candidate shows company names, full domains, populated attribute counts and the proposed primary. Cross-extension matches always warn that domain ownership may differ. Verify that all companies belong to the same organization before merging.

Choose the primary company, review the records and explicitly confirm each merge inside Attio. No merges run automatically in the background.

How it works

Open Companies and choose Scan subdomain duplicates from the object actions menu. The initial scan finds records sharing the same root domain. Select Include other extensions to also compare identical domain names across extensions, including suffixes such as .co.uk. Select Subdomains only to return to the standard scan.

Shared platforms, invalid domains and records spanning unrelated domain names are excluded. Name mismatches and primary conflicts appear as review warnings. Similar spelling alone is never used to suggest a match.

Select Change primary if needed, then Merge records. The confirmation explains which company will be primary and warns again when extensions differ. Primary values win conflicts.

After the merge, open the final company to check its preserved domains and activity. A new scan is required before another merge.

Configure

No external account, API key or configuration is required after installation.

The app needs read and write access to records so it can scan and merge company records. It also needs read access to object configuration, as required by the public merge endpoint.

Open the Companies list whenever you want to scan. No scheduled or automatic merge runs in the background.
