Introduction to syncing people and companies

How to get up and running in Attio in just a few minutes.

Attio is both extremely powerful and also built to work right out of the box with minimal setup. To take full advantage of this, we recommend that you sync your email and calendar.

The power of email syncing

When you sync your email and calendar, Attio will automatically create People and Company records for every person and company you’ve ever interacted with. It will then enrich those records with data from dozens of public sources.

Your person and company records will be automatically linked, meaning you’ll have a complete, centralized view of all your contacts at each company and how you’ve interacted with them. You’ll have access to your team’s communication history with every company and individual across time.

Attio’s communication intelligence gives you quick insights into common questions that drive day-to-day decisions. You can see how strong your relationship is with each company or person, who has the strongest relationship, and how recently you’ve been in touch. You can also see any other email and calendar interactions that have taken place.

Finally, you can send emails directly from Attio and use data points as variables. For more information about that feature, read here.

Syncing your email and calendar

If you didn’t choose this option during onboarding, you can access and enable this feature by going to Account settings > Email and calendar accounts. Select either Connect Google account or Connect Microsoft account .

Email sharing settings

One of the main benefits of Attio is to provide a single view of all of your interactions with your customers. At the same time, we know that emails can have varying levels of sensitivity, and shouldn’t always be shared. After you sync your email, you’ll have three sharing settings to choose from:

  • Metadata only. This option shares email participants and timestamps with members of your workspace. Email subject lines, body content, and attachments are private to you unless you manually grant team members access.

  • Subject line and metadata. This option shares participants, timestamps, and subject lines with members of your workspace. Email body content and attachments are private to you unless you manually grant team members access.

  • Full access. This option shares all of your email content including the body, subject line, and any attachments.

Advanced sharing options

On Attio's Pro and Enterprise plans, you can separately choose to share full access to your inbox with individual users:

You can also share individual emails with certain teammates, or even all emails from a certain company or a person. For example, a sales team collaborating on a deal might share their entire email history of an account with customer success.
