Comments

Have a discussion, provide updates, or exchange information on records in views with comments.

There are several places you can add, view, and interact with comments in Attio:

  • In table views, hover over a record name and click the speech bubble icon

  • In kanban views, click the speech bubble icon on cards

  • On a record page, under Lists in the bottom right corner, click on the speech bubble icon to comment on a specific list entry. Or click Comments at the top of the right-hand sidebar to add a comment directly to the record.

  • In any view in Attio, click the speech bubble icon in the upper-right corner to see a feed of all comments in the view. Use the filter icon in the upper-right of the feed to Show resolved comments, or select Only my threads. To see all comments in a view associated with a particular record, select the ⋮ icon to the right of a comment and then click Open record comments

To add a new comment, type your comment and click Post. If you want someone to be notified about your comment, be sure to @mention them in your comment. They will also be notified if you are replying to a thread they started.

Reply to comments in threads

Comment threads can help keep discussions organized. If you would like to reply to a specific comment without cluttering the comment feed, you can reply to a comment in a thread.

To reply in a thread, hover over the comment and click the arrow icon. Then type your comment and click Reply. To view comments in a thread, hover over any replies and click View thread.

Engage with comments

Hover over a comment and click the smiley icon to add emoji reactions to comments. Hover over an emoji that has been added to a comment to see who added it, and click an emoji added by someone else to upvote it. To remove an emoji reaction you added or to remove an upvote, simply click the emoji.

You can also share a link to a specific comment by selecting the ⋮ icon to the right of the comment, then clicking Copy link to comment.

Access to comments

Anyone with access to a list can view and add comments on the list. If someone is @mentioned in a comment in a list they can't access, they will not be notified and will not be able to view the comment. Learn more about list access.

Any comments left directly on a record from the comment icon in the upper-right of a record page will be visible to all team members of the workspace, since all records are visible to all team members.

Resolve comments

You can also resolve comments by hovering over the comment and clicking the checkmark icon. Resolving a comment can be useful when it has been addressed or is no longer relevant, because it removes the comment from the default view but is not deleted entirely.

By default, resolved comments will not be shown. To see resolved comments, click the speech bubble icon next to View settings in the upper-right of the view, select the filter icon, then click Show resolved comments. From this view, you can re-open a comment that was resolved and restore it to the default view by hovering over it and clicking the checkmark again.

Delete comments

To delete a comment you added, select the ⋮ icon to the right of the comment, then click Delete comment.

Mentions

Assign tasks, start conversations, and @mention teammates to pull their attention to the right place. You can @mention members of your team in notes, tasks, and comments - they'll receive a notification in the sidebar. Hit the @ key and start typing their name to get started.

In-app notifications are found under Notifications in the sidebar, and you can respond directly from there. You can also opt in for email notifications in your Account settings. Learn more about notifications.
