Available for all workspace members.

Prompts let you save frequently used Ask Attio questions so you can reuse them without retyping the same query. You can create your own custom prompts or use prompts from Attio’s prompt library.

Access the Prompts settings page

Navigate to the Prompts page in settings to see and manage all your prompts. You can also create and browse the prompts library from this page. Admins can see all prompts created by all workspace members.

  1. Click your workspace name in the top left.

  2. Click Account settings.

  3. Click Ask Attio in the left-hand sidebar.

  4. Click the Prompts tab.

Create a prompt

You can create a prompt either from the prompt library or from scratch.

Note: By default, prompts you create are visible to you and admins. You can choose to share your prompts with the workspace, teams, or individual members.

Create a prompt from the prompt library

You can create a prompt from the prompt library in two places:

  • From an Ask Attio chat, click the / icon and select Browse prompts.

  • From the Prompts settings page, click Browse prompts.

This opens Attio’s prompt library. Search for and select a prompt you want to use. To save the prompt for use as-is, click Add to my prompts. To make changes to the prompt before saving, click Customize to edit, and Confirm to save.

Create a prompt from scratch

You can create a new prompt in two places:

  • From an Ask Attio chat, click the / icon or type / and select + New prompt.

  • From the Prompts settings page, click + New prompt.

When creating a prompt, fill out the following fields:

  • Title: A name for your prompt.

  • Icon: An icon to help you quickly identify it.

  • Prompt: The message that will be sent to Ask Attio.

When you’re finished, click Create prompt to save the prompt. Your saved prompt will be available from any Ask Attio chat.

Best practices for prompts

Use these best practices to write clearer prompts that help Ask Attio understand your data and deliver more useful results.

For a deeper walkthrough, watch the How to prompt engineer in Attio workshop in the Attio Community.

Add context about your data model

While Ask Attio can access your data, it may not understand what specific objects, attributes, or workflows represent. If your prompt depends on an understanding of your data model or a specific use case, include that context directly in the prompt.

Use a clear prompt structure

For more reliable results, structure your prompts using three sections: Context, Task, and Constraints. Before running a prompt, make sure you have answered each of the following.

Context

  • Specify which objects or sources Ask Attio should use, such as companies, deals, emails, notes, call recordings, or web research.

  • Define any limits to the scope of the request, like “last quarter” or “active deals only”.

Task

  • Describe what you want Ask Attio to do in plain language.

  • Focus on the outcome, such as summarizing an account, drafting a follow-up email, or identifying blockers and next steps.

Constraints

  • Define the output format, such as bullet points, headings, or a checklist.

  • Set any expectations for length or tone.

  • Add guardrails or exclusions, like excluding inactive deals.

This structure makes prompts easier to reuse, more predictable in their results, and more consistently actionable.

Example prompt

Context

You are summarizing a specific call recording. You have access to the call transcript, notes linked to the meeting, meeting participants, and other linked records.

Task

Create a call recap that captures:

  • Call overview: what was the call about (1-2 sentences), primary goals of the call, outcome

  • Participants: who attended and their roles

  • Key topics: the main themes covered, grouped into 3-5 bullet sections

  • Decisions: any decisions made

  • Next steps: the concrete next actions

Constraints

Use the following output structure:

  • Be concise and actionable, avoid long paragraphs

  • Keep the recap actionable, focus on what matters for follow-up

  • If there is no relevant call recording or meeting in context, ask the user to confirm what the relevant call or meeting is before proceeding

Use a prompt with Ask Attio

To use a saved prompt in an Ask Attio chat, type / in the chat or click the / icon and select the prompt you want to use. You can optionally add more instructions in the message draft before sending.

Note: Click the name of a prompt you’ve added to the composer for a preview. You can add more than one prompt to a message.

Share a prompt

By default, custom prompts are visible to the creator and admins. For prompts you've created or have Full access to, you can manage access for your entire workspace, teams, and individual members.

Set workspace, team, and member access to a prompt

The prompt creator and members with Full access to the prompt can update prompt access by following these steps:

  1. From an Ask Attio chat, click the / icon or type /, then select Manage prompts.

  2. From the Prompts settings page, click the prompt you want to manage.

  3. Click Share in the top right.

  4. To set a workspace-wide default, use the dropdown next to Workspace access.

  • Workspace access is the default and applies to all members, unless a team or member setting specifies otherwise.

5. To set team or individual member access, add teams or members and choose their access level from the dropdown next to their name, then click Add.

  • Team access takes priority over workspace access. If the two conflict, the team setting applies.

  • Member access takes priority over both workspace and team access. If there’s a conflict, the member setting applies.

Edit, copy, or delete a prompt

From the Prompts settings page, click the ⋮ icon next to a prompt and choose one of the following actions:

  • Edit prompt to update the title, icon, or prompt text

  • Copy prompt to copy the prompt text to your clipboard

  • Delete prompt to permanently remove the prompt
