Ask Attio is an AI chat assistant that helps you work more efficiently in Attio. Use it to search across your data, including calls, notes, emails, and records, or to research information on the web. Ask Attio can answer questions, summarize information, create or update records, create tasks, and draft emails.

Access Ask Attio

You can access Ask Attio from multiple places throughout Attio:

  • Home page: Use the chat box at the top of your Home page.

  • Sidebar: Open a past conversation under Chats, or click + to start a new chat. From the gear icon, change the sort order or Show all chats.

  • Quick actions: Press ⌘K and select Ask Attio, or type a prompt and press the tab key.

  • Record pages, Notes, Calls, and All records: Click Ask Attio in the top right of any of these pages.

What data does Ask Attio use?

Ask Attio uses your workspace data and the web to answer questions. Attio automatically decides which sources to use based on your question.

Note: Ask Attio has the same viewing permissions as you. It can only access data you can normally see in Attio, including all of your own emails. Customer data is not used to train any AI models.

Ask Attio can access:

  • Calendar events for all workspace members, respecting permissions, including meeting metadata even if the meeting wasn't recorded

  • Call recordings and transcripts from recorded meetings

  • Notes across your workspace

  • Emails you have access to, including subject lines, dates, and summaries

  • Records across all objects in your workspace

  • Workspace members and teams

  • Web research for real-time information from the internet (see Web research below for more details)

Note: You must sync your email and calendar with Attio for Ask Attio to access your emails and meetings.

Ask Attio chat controls

In the Ask Attio chat, you can:

  • Type your message in the composer, and click the blue button to send it. You can @mention workspace users or records in your message.

  • Use a saved prompt by typing / in the chat or clicking the / icon. Select the prompt you want to use. You can optionally add more instructions in the message draft before sending. Learn more about creating and using prompts.

  • Open previous conversations using the clock icon in the top right.

  • Select an AI model from the Auto menu. Attio offers a variety of models that perform well across Attio use cases.

  • Find options to Open in full page, Copy chat ID, or Delete the chat from the ⋮ icon in the top right. This icon appears when a message has been sent.

  • When a chat is open in full page mode and at least one message has been sent, click the chat title to rename it.

  • Cancel a message while it is generating by clicking the square icon.

  • Edit a message you’ve sent by clicking the pencil icon below it. Attio will regenerate a response based on the updated message.

  • Copy a response by clicking the two-square icon beneath it.

  • Retry a response by clicking the arrows icon beneath it. You can choose a different model before retrying. Retrying a response does cost credits.

  • When a message has been edited or a response has been retried, toggle between versions by clicking the < and > arrows under the message.

  • Share feedback using the thumbs up or thumbs down buttons. If you downvote a response, you can choose whether to share the conversation with Attio’s team so they can understand what went wrong. Learn how to update the default sharing setting.

Note: Ask Attio conversations are private to you and are not visible to other workspace members. To share information with teammates, copy and send individual responses.

What you can do with Ask Attio

Use Ask Attio to search, summarize, update, and create work across your workspace. The context where you open Ask Attio takes precedence. For example, if you open it from a call, Ask Attio will prioritize that call’s context. When context is being prioritized, the related item appears in the bottom left of the chat.

Work with meetings and call recordings

Use Ask Attio to understand what happened in meetings, prepare for upcoming calls, and find insights across multiple call recordings.

Example prompts:

  • "Suggest next steps based on this call"

  • "Suggest updates to the deal record based on this call"

  • "Recap last call"

  • "What were the main objections in this call?"

  • "What did Nora think about pricing?"

  • "Help me prepare for my next meeting"

  • "Find calls in the developer tools space that are strong representative discovery calls"

Search and summarize notes

Use Ask Attio to search notes by date, author, linked record, or content. Ask Attio can summarize notes to help you quickly understand what has been documented.

Example prompts:

  • "Summarize the notes on this account"

  • "Find all notes from this month that mention billing"

  • "Summarize all notes made by Jordan in the last 30 days"

Note: Ask Attio cannot create new notes or edit existing ones.

Get information about records

Use Ask Attio to ask questions about specific records or search across your workspace to find related information.

Example prompts:

  • "Do we have an active deal with Atlas Software?"

  • "How long has this deal been open? What is the status?"

  • "Summarize all information about this record, including notes"

Complex, cross-feature queries

Use Ask Attio to combine information from multiple sources to give you a complete picture.

Example prompts:

  • "Look at all calls, notes, and emails with this company. What do I need to know before my next meeting with this company?"

  • "Find a customer that is planning to use the Syncly integration"

  • “What are the most commonly requested security features?”

Multilingual understanding

Use Ask Attio to ask questions in multiple languages across your workspace data. You can ask questions in one language and get relevant results even if the source content, such as notes, call transcripts, or emails, is in a different language.

For example, you can ask about pricing in German and receive results related to pricing even if the original content was not written or spoken in German.

Create and update records

Use Ask Attio to create new records or suggest updates to existing record attributes based on calls, notes, or other context you provide. All suggested changes require your approval before being applied. You can review and edit proposed changes before accepting them by clicking Accept. If you do not accept the changes, nothing is created or updated.

Create tasks

Use Ask Attio to create tasks or suggest follow-up actions based on calls, records, or your requests. Click a suggested task to open it and make edits. To quickly create a task Ask Attio has suggested, click + Create.

  • "Create a task for me to send the proposal by Friday"

Draft emails

Use Ask Attio to draft emails using context from calls, records, or your instructions. You can specify recipients, provide guidance on tone, content, or language, and ask Ask Attio to revise the draft.

When you open an email from the preview card, a draft is automatically created and saved in your email drafts folder. You can delete the draft from the preview or from your drafts folder.

Note: You must review and send email drafts manually, as Ask Attio cannot send emails without approval.

Web research

Use Ask Attio to pull in real-time information from the internet to supplement your workspace data.

Example prompts:

  • "Find publicly available information online about Elena Vega"

  • "Update the record for Cloudframe with any information you can find online"

  • “Summarize meaningful news and announcements for this company in the last 90 days”

Before performing a web search, with default settings Ask Attio will ask for permission with two options: Allow or Deny. When Ask Attio searches the web, it may use publicly available information from the internet in addition to your workspace data.

You can update the default behavior in your personal settings.

Manage Ask Attio settings

Control how Ask Attio works by managing your personal settings. These settings only apply to you.

  1. Click your workspace name in the top left.

  2. Click Account settings.

  3. Select Ask Attio in the left-hand sidebar.

Web search preferences

Under Privacy > Web search, choose when Ask Attio is allowed to search the web:

  • Always ask: Ask Attio confirms before searching the web.

  • Always allow: Ask Attio searches automatically when needed.

  • Don’t allow: Ask Attio will not use web search in any chats.

Share downvoted messages

Under Privacy > Share downvoted messages, choose whether conversations are shared with Attio’s team when you downvote responses:

  • Always share: Downvoted conversations are automatically shared to help improve Ask Attio.

  • Ask each time: Decide whether to share each time you downvote.

  • Don’t share: You won’t be asked to share conversations, and conversations will never be shared.

Predefined model

Under Model > Default model, choose the AI model Ask Attio uses by default to generate responses.
