Some triggers and actions depend on your Attio plan.

Zapier connects Attio to thousands of other apps, so you can sync data and automate work without writing code. Each automation in Zapier is called a Zap, and it's built from three kinds of steps:

  • A trigger starts the Zap when something happens in Attio, such as a record being created.

  • An action creates or changes data in Attio, such as adding a record to a list.

  • A search finds existing data in Attio and passes it to later steps in the Zap.

Some triggers and actions only run correctly if an admin connects Attio and Zapier with an API key that has read-write permissions. Learn how to generate an API key. If you haven't connected the two yet, start with Connect Attio and Zapier.

Attio triggers

Every Attio trigger is instant, so your Zap runs as soon as the event happens. Learn more in Zapier's guide to setting up a trigger.

Record Created

Runs your Zap when a record is created in Attio.

Record Updated

Runs your Zap when attributes on a record are updated.

Record Deleted

Runs your Zap when a record is deleted.

List Entry Created

Runs your Zap when a record is added to a list. The trigger includes data for both the new entry and its parent record.

List Entry Updated

Runs your Zap when attributes on a list entry are updated. The trigger includes data for both the entry and its parent record.

This trigger doesn't run when the parent record changes. To run a Zap on record changes, use the Record Updated trigger.

List Entry Deleted

Runs your Zap when a record is removed from a list.

Task Created

Runs your Zap when a task is created.

Activity Created

Runs your Zap when an activity, such as a phone call or meeting, is logged in Attio.

Activities are available on Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Logging custom activities requires a Pro or Enterprise plan.

Call Recording Created

Runs your Zap when a call recording finishes uploading to Attio. The video link in the trigger expires one hour after the Zap runs, so use it in an early step. Call recording is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.

Attio Actions

Actions create, update, or delete data in Attio. Learn more in Zapier's guide to setting up an action.

Create or Update Record

Updates a matching record, or creates a new record if no match exists.

Attio finds the record using a matching attribute, which must be a unique attribute, such as domain for companies or email address for people. You must always include a value for the matching attribute. To create records without one, such as people without email addresses, use Create Record instead.

Use the optional Attributes field to set other attributes on the record. Because the record may not exist yet, you must include values for any required attributes that don't have defaults. If you already have a record ID from an earlier step, use Update Record instead, which doesn't need values for required attributes.

If you leave Attributes empty, this action works as a lookup, such as finding a person by email address or a company by domain.

Create Record

Creates a new record without needing a matching attribute.

This action fails if the new record conflicts with an existing unique value, such as two people with the same email address. To avoid these errors, use Create or Update Record instead.

Update Record

Updates attributes on a record. Identify the record by its record ID, which you can get from an earlier step, such as the Record Created trigger. To find a record by another attribute, use Create or Update Record or Find Records.

Create List Entry

Adds a record to a list and sets values on the new entry.

Select the parent record's object, such as People, and enter its record ID from an earlier step, such as the Record Created trigger, the Create or Update Record action, or the Create Record action. Use the optional Attributes field to set attributes on the entry.

This action creates a new entry each time it runs, even if the record is already in the list. To avoid duplicates, use Create or Update List Entry by Parent Record.

Create or Update List Entry by Parent Record

Finds a record's entry in a list, or creates an entry if none exists. If an entry is found, you can optionally update it. Use the optional Attributes field to choose which entry attributes to set. To update the parent record itself, use Update Record.

This action fails if the record has more than one entry in the list.

Update List Entry

Updates attributes on a list entry, such as changing its status. Identify the entry by its entry ID, which you can get from an earlier step, such as the List Entry Created trigger. Use the Attributes field to choose which attributes to update, then enter a value for each.

Delete List Entry

Removes an entry from a list.

Create Task

Creates a task with content, a deadline, and assignees. You can't link tasks to records through Zapier.

Update Task

Updates the deadline, completion status, or assignees on a task. Identify the task by its task ID, which you can get from an earlier step, such as the Task Created trigger.

Create Note

Adds a note to a record.

Create Activity

Logs an activity, such as a phone call or meeting, on records in Attio. Activities appear on the Activity tab of the records they're linked to. Learn more in Log activities on records.

Activities are available on Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans. Logging custom activities requires a Pro or Enterprise plan.

Create Storage Location

Connects a folder from a file provider, such as Dropbox, to a record.

Attio Searches

Searches find existing data in Attio without changing it. In the Zap editor, they appear in the same event list as actions.

Find Records

Finds records that match one or more attributes, such as a person by email address or a company by domain.

Find List Entries

Finds entries in a list that match one or more list attributes. Results include each entry's parent record data. If nothing matches, the search returns an empty result.
