Jira Sync

Jira Sync

Automatically sync data between Jira and Attio

Overview

Jira Sync automatically syncs and displays connected Jira Cloud account data in your Attio records. Revenue, support, and operations teams can create or link Jira issues from the records they already use, then follow progress without leaving Attio.

The linked Jira issues widget shows the current summary, status, priority, assignee, Jira link, and unread comment activity. When relevant, it also shows other affected Attio records or linked deal value. Users can update supported issue fields, open the shared comment thread, or unlink an issue from a record.

Jira Sync also adds selected-record actions and workflow blocks. Create an issue for one record, create issues for many selected records, link an existing issue to one or many records, or automate issue creation and linking in Attio workflows. Created and linked issues are available to later workflow blocks, allowing the issue key, URL, status, and other details to drive downstream steps.

Jira webhooks keep linked issue details and comment notifications current. An optional resolved-issue follow-up can create an Attio task when a linked issue moves to Jira's Done status category.

Jira Sync is designed for customer-facing teams that need a clear connection between customer records in Attio and product, engineering, or service work in Jira.

How it works

Create and link Jira issues

Open an Attio record and use the Jira Sync actions to create a Jira issue or link an existing one. When creating an issue, select the Jira project, issue type, and optional priority, then write the summary and description.

Summary and description templates can combine your own text with variables from the current Attio record. Jira Sync resolves those variables separately for each record and adds a link back to Attio, keeping the issue connected to its customer context. If the description is left empty, the app uses its default Attio context when a record is linked.

Selected-record actions support bulk work. You can create one Jira issue for each selected Attio record or link one existing issue to multiple selected records.

Track and update linked work

The linked Jira issues widget refreshes issue details from Jira and displays the current status, priority, assignee, recent comment activity, and a direct Jira link. Depending on the linked data, it can also show other affected Attio records and linked deal value.

From Attio, users can edit a linked issue's summary, priority, assignee, or status. They can also view the Jira comment thread and add attributed comments. A user may edit or delete comments that they added through Attio. New Jira comments appear as a per-user unread badge until that user opens the comment thread.

Respond to Jira changes

Jira Sync registers dynamic webhooks for issue changes, issue deletion, and comment activity. These events refresh linked data and comment notifications in Attio.

If an issue is deleted in Jira, the workspace can automatically remove its links and stored notification data. Alternatively, the app can keep the link visible as unavailable until a user unlinks it manually.

When resolved-issue follow-up is enabled, Jira Sync creates a native Attio task on every linked record when an issue enters Jira's Done status category. Repeated webhook deliveries are deduplicated, and reopened issues can create a new task when resolved again.

Automate with workflows

The Create Jira issue workflow block creates an issue from workflow text and variables and can optionally link it to a target Attio record through the Record to link field. By selecting variable for example, Record Created > Created user, the created user object will display a widget about the created Jira issue.

The Link Jira issue block connects an existing Jira issue to a target record.

Both blocks return structured issue details to later workflow blocks, including the Jira issue ID, key, URL, summary, status, priority, project, issue type, and cloud ID.

Configure

Installation

  • Install Jira Sync in your Attio workspace.
  • Open Workspace Settings > Apps > Jira Sync.
  • Open the Connections tab and connect the workspace to Jira Cloud through OAuth.
  • Approve access with a Jira account that can view the required projects and perform the Jira actions your team will use.

Jira defaults

Open the Jira Sync Settings tab and configure the Jira Cloud connection.

  • Select the Jira site.
  • Select the default project.
  • Select the default issue type.
  • Optionally select a default priority, or leave it set to Use Jira default.
  • Select Check connection.

Checking the connection validates Jira access and creates or renews the dynamic webhooks used for issue and comment updates. You do not need to create a Jira webhook manually.

Synchronization behavior

Choose whether deleted Jira issues should be automatically unlinked from every associated Attio record. Automatic unlinking also clears stored link and comment-notification data.

Optionally enable resolved-issue follow-up. Set the number of days until the task is due and optionally select a default Attio assignee. Jira Sync will create a native Attio task on each linked record when the Jira issue moves to the Done status category.

Record actions

Open a record and select Create Jira issue or Link Jira issue from its available actions. Complete the required Jira fields and, when creating an issue, use the variable browser to add values from the current record to the summary or description.

To work with several records, select them in an Attio table and run Create Jira issues or Link Jira issue from the selected-record actions.

Workflow setup

Create or edit an Attio workflow and add the appropriate Jira Sync block.

  • Create Jira issue creates a new issue. To link it, use Record to link and select a record from the trigger or an earlier block. Jira Sync detects the record's object type automatically. Leave Record to link empty for a standalone issue.
  • Link Jira issue connects an existing issue to a target record.

Use Attio's workflow variable picker in the summary, description, issue key, or target record fields as applicable. Connect the Jira issue created or Jira issue linked outcome to later blocks when the workflow needs to use the returned issue details, then publish the workflow.

Trial and billing

Jira Sync includes a 14-day free trial. A workspace admin can start the trial and manage the paid plan from the app's settings page. Paid plans are based on the number of users in the Attio workspace.
