DocuPotion

DocuPotion

Documents & e-signatures: quotes, invoices, NDAs, contracts

Overview

DocuPotion makes it easy to generate documents and collect e-signatures from your Attio records. Build a reusable template with a Google Doc or PDF. Create documents from your records in a few clicks or automatically generate them as part of an Attio workflow. Placeholder values in your template get replaced with data from your records.

Once the automation is set up, you never have to leave Attio. All documents get output as PDFs and automatically uploaded to the Files section of your record. View the status of all your documents (views, signature events, fully signed) in the Documents tab. Optionally save down files to a folder in your Google Drive.

Moving from PandaDoc or DocuSign? DocuPotion brings document generation and e-signature together inside Attio, so your team never leaves the CRM to send a contract or collect a signature.

See it in action

Check out this 2-minute video to see how the DocuPotion app works in Attio. You can also watch this detailed 15-minute video tutorial for instructions on how to get started and generate your first document in Attio.

Types of documents you can create

  • NDAs
  • Quotes
  • Proposals
  • Invoices
  • Service agreements
  • Contracts

DocuPotion allows you to build reusable templates from either 1) Google Docs or 2) existing PDFs. This means you can create any custom document you want.

Other useful features

  • E-Signatures (supports multiple signers + audit trail)
  • Line items
  • Formulas
  • Custom names for files

Common workflow use cases

DocuPotion allows you to generate documents as part of an Attio workflow. You can also trigger workflows when documents with an e-signature field have been signed. Some use cases include:

  • Update a deal stage when all parties have signed a document (contract, NDA, proposal)
  • Signed contract kicks off an onboarding workflow
  • Generate a proposal document when a deal stage moves to proposal
  • New inbound lead results in an NDA being generated and sent to prospect

How it works

App actions

Installing the DocuPotion app gives you access to two actions. Both can be accessed by clicking on the DocuPotion icon that appears on all records after you've installed the app.

Create document

This triggers an automation that generates a document from a DocuPotion template and merges in data from your Attio record. The output PDF is saved down to the Files section of your record. Optionally, you can also:

  • Send the document to relevant parties for e-signature
  • Save the document to a Google Drive folder
  • Email the document to a recipient read from the record

You will need to create the automation in your DocuPotion dashboard (see section below).

View documents

This action allows you to see all documents you've created via the Create Document action for the active record. It also shows any documents where there are signatures required.

Workflow blocks

The DocuPotion app supports one step block and two trigger blocks:

  • Generate document (step)
  • Document signed (trigger)
  • Document sent for signature (trigger)

These blocks can be used in Attio workflows.

Documents tab

Add the Documents tab to your record page to get an overview of all recent Document activity and see the status of all documents associated with the record.

Configure

Getting started takes about five minutes. See the quickstart guide for full instructions.

1. Create your DocuPotion account

After installing the app, you'll be taken to DocuPotion to sign in or create a free trial account.

2. Connect both ways

DocuPotion and Attio each approve the other once:

  • In DocuPotion, open Integrations and click Connect next to "Connect your Attio workspace". You'll approve this on Attio's screen.
  • Back in Attio, open Apps → DocuPotion and click + Connect, then approve. This lets the app generate documents on your DocuPotion account.

The Integrations page shows a live checklist, so you can always see which step is left.

3. Create a template

In DocuPotion, build a reusable template from either: 1) a Google Doc or 2) a PDF. Add a merge field wherever record data should appear.

4. Build an automation

In DocuPotion's Automations tab, click New automation: pick your template, choose an Attio object (Deals, People, Companies, or any custom object), and map each merge field to a record attribute. Optionally add delivery: save to Google Drive, email the document, or send it for e-signature.

5. Generate from any record / workflow

Open a record in Attio and click Create document in the record's actions. The PDF document is generated from that record's data and attached to its Files. Add the DocuPotion Documents widget to your record layout to see each record's documents and signature status at a glance.

Alternatively, use the Generate document step block in an Attio workflow to automatically generate a document from a record.
