Write it or describe it

Create formulas in a dedicated editor, with a full library of math, logic, text, and date functions.

Attio provides syntax guidance as you type, including a searchable list of what’s available and examples of how to use functions with your existing attributes.

If you’d rather not write formula syntax at all, just describe what you want. Attio writes the formula for you based on your prompt, without using any workspace credits.

Try this example:

Output the text "Stale" if this deal has been in its current deal stage for more than 14 days, and "Active" otherwise.

Build with confidence

Attio shows you a preview result for an example record of your choice. You know exactly what a formula will return before you save it.

If something’s off, Attio identifies the error, flags it, and fixes it for you.

Functions that understand change over time

Attribute history functions work with historical values, helping you understand how your data has changed over time, not just what it is now.

timeSpentIn measures how long an attribute sat at a certain value, like a deal stage. hasBeenIn checks whether it ever passed through a given value. valueAt tells you what an attribute was on a specific date, previousValue checks what it was before the last change, and valueSetAt pinpoints when it changed.

These custom functions open up insights that are only possible in Attio.

Deterministic, composable, reactive

Formulas strengthen the foundation of Attio in three ways.

Deterministic. The same inputs give you the same answer, every time. That’s what makes a number safe to forecast on, audit in a board meeting, or trigger a workflow from. You don’t want a creative answer to "what’s this deal worth?" You want the right one.

Composable. A formula can reference another formula and other attributes. Set your stage probabilities once, then use them in weighted pipeline, in a report, and in a scoring model. Formulas stack, so you can use them everywhere.

Reactive. When the underlying data changes, the formula recalculates on its own, within seconds. If seat count changes, contract value follows. Nothing to re-run, nothing to re-prompt, nothing to remember. And none of this slows down as you grow.

Formula attributes are available on Pro and Enterprise plans. Admins can create and manage them, along with any member who has full access to the relevant object or list.

Add a new attribute on any object or list and choose Formula.
