Export a record of changes made in your workspace.

> **Admins** can export audit logs.

The audit log is a record of what changed in your workspace, who changed it, and when. Use it to give auditors evidence of who changed what, to investigate a record that was deleted or overwritten, or to review a member's activity before they leave your team. Admins export the log as a CSV file for a date and time range, and can filter it by actor and type of change.

## What the audit log captures

The audit log records changes to records and attributes. Records include tasks and list entries.

- **Records:** Created, updated, deleted, and merged.
- **Attributes:** Created, updated, and deleted.

Each entry includes details such as:

- The workspace member who made the change
- When the change happened, shown in UTC
- What changed, such as a record, task, or list entry, and which attribute
- The previous and new value
- The IP address and country the change came from

The audit log doesn't currently include record views, sign-ins, admin actions such as changes to members or permissions, changes to notes or workflows, or workspace configuration changes. Only changes made by workspace members are included currently, not changes made with workflows, the API, etc.

Attio keeps audit logs for one year. Logs older than that are deleted.

> **Note:** Logging starts on the date audit logging is turned on for your workspace. Changes made before that date aren't in the audit log.

## Export an audit log

By default, an export includes all members and all types of change. Exports are generated in the background, so you can leave the page while one runs.

Your export appears in the list on the **Audit log** page with a timestamp and a status. When the status shows **Completed**, click the download icon to download the CSV file. Exports can be downloaded for seven days. If no changes match your filters, the status shows **No activity for selected filters** and there’s no file to download.
