Attio automatically enriches person and company records with useful data points like logos and profile pictures, social media handles, and descriptions. Enriched data removes the need for manually sourcing and adding data to your records. In addition, when Attio has new data it will automatically update enriched attributes so your data is always current.

Attributes that have been enriched by Attio are distinguished with lilac colored cells and the sparkle icon in column headers:

> **Note: **Please note that Attio's ability to enrich each record is dependent on data availability.

## How enriched data is used

Attio’s enriched data saves you time and clicks, giving your team a centralized place to find all the data they need about a person or company record.

Within seconds of adding a new record your team can:

- See automatically populated description, industry, location, ARR, and employee range at a glance
- Understand the status of each relationship and your team’s interactions with each person and company
- Sort and [filter views](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/views/views#filtering-views) by using enriched data such as location, industry type, or Twitter following
- Navigate lists easily by displaying record photos and company logos
- Locate the social media profiles of leads or job applicants with one click

Enriched data in Attio is automatically populated within attributes that can be [surfaced in views](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/views/create-and-manage-table-views#display-attributes), used for [filtering and sorting](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/views/views#filtering-views), and [viewed on record pages](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/records#record-pages).

> **Note: **It is not possible to export enriched data from Attio. If you overwrite Attio's enriched data manually, data that you have entered yourself is able to be exported.

## Enriched object attributes

You can find a number of attributes automatically enriched by Attio on each person or company [record page](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/records#record-pages). Note that in order for Attio to enrich records, people records must have an email address, and company records must have a domain, and Attio's ability to enrich each record is dependent on data availability.

You can manually update most enriched attributes with your own data as desired, and any values you add manually will not be overwritten by Attio’s enrichment.

## Communication intelligence

Attio automatically populates communication intelligence attributes using data from [email and calendar sync](https://attio.com/help/reference/email-calendar/email-and-calendar-syncing), as well as [meetings](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/records/add-record-activities) added manually to records. These attributes show who is interacting with records and when, providing valuable insights to help you manage relationships and stay on top of communications.

> **Note: **Access to certain enriched and communication intelligence attributes will depend on your Attio plan. [Learn more about the different plans available.](https://attio.com/pricing)

The following enriched communication intelligence attributes factor in emails, calendar events, and meetings interactions:

- **First interaction:** The first interaction any workspace member had with the record
- **Last interaction**: The most recent interaction any workspace member had with the record
- **Connection strength**: The strength of your connection with the record, **No Connection**, **Very Weak**, **Weak**, **Good**, **Strong**, or **Very Strong**, based on all workspace members' interactions with the record, and factors like response frequency and recency
- **Strongest connection**: The workspace member with the strongest connection with the record based on all interactions

For the following enriched communication intelligence attributes, there is an option for each type of interaction, emails or calendar events (which also includes manually added meetings):

- **First [type] interaction**: The earliest interaction of that type that any workspace member had with the record
- **Last [type] interaction**: The most recent interaction of that type that any workspace member had with the record
- **Next [type] interaction**: The soonest upcoming interaction of that type that any workspace member has scheduled with the record

For calendar events, these attributes use the event's start time, not its end time. For example, Last calendar interaction reflects when a meeting began, and Next calendar interaction reflects when an upcoming meeting is scheduled to begin.

> **Note:** Workspace members must sync their email and calendar for those interactions to be included in communication intelligence attributes. Additionally, communication intelligence for company records only includes people with email domains matching the company's domain.

### Search communication intelligence attributes

When searching for a communication intelligence attribute (except Connection strength or Strongest connection) to display in a view or use in a filter:

Choose whether you're looking for a** First**, **Last**, or **Next** interaction:

![](https://a.storyblok.com/f/234930/1342x844/20186d9c25/first-last-next-interaction.png)

Next, choose the type(s) of interactions:

![](https://a.storyblok.com/f/234930/1250x622/61c30222aa/interaction-type.png)

Then, choose whether to show the workspace member who had the interaction, when it took place, or both:

- **When**:** **The date of the interaction
- **With**: The workspace member who had the interaction

### When do emails, calendar events, and meetings count toward communication intelligence attributes?

Communication intelligence attributes are updated based on email, calendar, and meeting activity for people and companies in your workspace. Here's how different types of interactions are matched:

#### Emails

Emails will count toward a **person** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- At least one participant’s email address matches an email on the person record.

Emails will count toward a **company** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- At least one participant’s email address includes a domain that matches a domain on the company record.

#### Synced calendar event meetings

Synced calendar event meetings will count toward a **person** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- At least one participant’s email address matches an email on the person record.
- A manually linked person's email address matches an email on the person record.

Synced calendar event meetings will count toward a **company** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- At least one participant’s email address includes a domain that matches a domain on the company record.
- A manually linked person's email address includes a domain that matches a domain on the company record.

In addition, for synced calendar event meetings to count toward communication intelligence attributes:

- The meeting must be active (not canceled).
- There must be at least one workspace member participating, and they haven't declined the meeting.

#### Manually added meetings

Manually added meetings will count toward a **person** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- A participant’s email address matches an email on the person record, or
- The person record is manually linked to the meeting.

Manually added meetings will count toward a **company** record's communication intelligence attributes when:

- A participant’s email address includes a domain that matches a domain on the company record, or
- The company record is manually linked to the meeting.

## Company, Team, and Job title attributes

Attio will automatically populate **Company** and **Job title** for people records and the **Team** of company records wherever possible.

### **Company**

The **Company** a person is associated with is automatically set by Attio based on the domain of the first listed email address on the person's record page. If the domain of the email address matches an existing company record's domain, Attio will automatically link the person to the company.

> **Note: **If a person’s first email address uses a public domain (such as gmail.com or outlook.com), Attio will check the next email address. If all listed addresses use public domains, Attio will not create a company for that person.

### **Team**

The **Team** of a company will include all person records that are connected to the company, either manually or via Attio's automatic enrichment outlined above.

You can manually update a person's **Company** or a company's **Team**. This can be done on [record pages](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/records#team-and-company) or from a view where the attribute has been surfaced (which will also update the record pages).

Updating a person's **Company** will automatically update their company's **Team**, and updating a company's **Team** will automatically update those people records' **Company**.

### **Job title**

Attio will also enrich **Job title** for people records wherever possible. The **Job title** attribute can be added to views like any other attribute and used for filters and sorts. You can also manually update the **Job title** from the **Companies** tab of person [record pages](https://attio.com/help/reference/managing-your-data/records#team-and-company).

## FAQ

### How does Attio enrich a person record with multiple email addresses?

Attio will check all of the email addresses on a person record for available enrichment data and add all data from the emails to the record.

In cases where more then one email address has enrichment available for the same attribute, Attio will enrich the value coming from the primary email address first (the first one listed on the record), then fallback to the second, etc.

### What information does Attio require in order to enrich a record?

Attio's data enrichment requires a domain (e.g [apple.com](http://apple.com)) for companies or an email address for person records. If a company is missing a domain, it can't be enriched - the same goes for a person without an email address.

### Regarding communication intelligence attributes like ‘connection strength’, whose interactions are used to calculate this data point for companies?

Attio will only factor in interactions with people whose email domain ([name@company.com](mailto:name@company.com)) matches the company domain ([company.com](http://company.com)) when calculating communication intelligence attributes for company records. This means that there is no way currently to factor emails with public email domains (such as Gmail or Outlook) into company communication intelligence data. People you have manually linked to companies will also not factor into the companies' communication intelligence if their domains don't match the companies'.

### Why isn't Attio enriching an attribute or adding an image to a record?

Attio uses enrichment data from third-party providers, which requires an email address for person records and a domain for company records. These identifiers allow Attio to look up and add available details automatically.

However, enrichment isn’t guaranteed. Data coverage can vary depending on the region and market.

If you’ve already added an email address or domain and still don’t see any enriched attributes or images, it means that Attio’s data providers don’t currently have that information available for the record.
