If you have any trouble while using Attio's integration with Zapier, the following troubleshooting tips can help solve common issues.

## App returned "No options are available"

This usually occurs when the API key doesn't have sufficient scopes. To fix this, head to the [Developers page](https://app.attio.com/_/settings/developers) in settings and select the integration you're using for Zapier. You'll want to ensure you've given **Read-write** scopes here for everything your zap may need to access:

## API Key Provided not authorized

**Problem:** Testing a trigger or action with the Attio app returns an error saying 'The API Key provided is not authorized to perform the requested action'.

‍**Solution:** Update your API key **Scopes**. You will need to set **Read-write** **Scopes **for the Attio data you want to update with Zapier. [Learn more about generating and configuring your API key.](https://attio.com/help/reference/integrations-automations/generating-an-api-key)

## Update List Entry step is missing fields

**Problem:** When configuring an **Update List Entry** action, fields such as what attribute to change and what to change it to appear to be missing.

‍**Solution:** The **Attributes** field becomes visible once you have set a value for **List**, and the fields to write values for each attribute become available once you have selected one or more attributes in the **Attributes **field. New dropdowns appear dynamically as you go through and complete each section.

> **Note: **Remember that for almost all Attio Zaps, you’ll be mapping fields using data from prior steps in your Zap. If you find yourself manually typing values in, there’s a good chance your Zap won’t run as desired. [Learn more about mapping fields](https://attio.com/help/reference/integrations-automations/zapier-integration/intro-to-our-zapier-app#mapping-fields).

## The app returned 'Entry not found’

**Problem:** Zapier can't send entry attribute updates to Attio because an entry cannot be found

‍**Solution:** When mapping fields in an **Update List Entry** step, users will sometimes pick an **ID** from either the wrong prior step (usually **Create or Update Record**), or manually type in an ID from elsewhere. To send an attribute update to Attio, the **Entry ID** must be taken from another trigger or action e.g. **Create List Entry, List Entry Updated, **or** List Entry Created **step. [Learn more about mapping fields](https://attio.com/help/reference/integrations-automations/zapier-integration/intro-to-our-zapier-app#mapping-fields).

## No + icon to add more steps

**Problem: **Unable to add more steps to a Zap because the **+** icon is missing**‍**

**Solution:** The **+ **icon beneath the last step is sometimes obscured by a dark grey box that says **Ready to publish your Zap?** - you'll need to close it to reveal the **+ **icon.

![A dialogue box that reads 'Ready to publish your Zap?' is obscuring the icon required to add further steps to the automation. Closing this window reveals the plus icon.](https://a.storyblok.com/f/234930/1880x468/64be735a44/hidden-plus-icon.png)

## Intermittent 5xx errors or temporary failures

If you see an occasional 5xx error (like 502, 503, or 504), this is often caused by a temporary issue rather than a problem with your Zap setup.

In many cases, retrying the failed step after a short delay will succeed. Things you can try:

- [Replay the failed Zap run](https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/19220226086797-What-is-replay) from your Zap history.
- Enable Zapier’s automatic retries ([Autoreplay](https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/19220226086797-What-is-replay#h_01H9KBC1HMW07HTC6EC7NBTENH)), if available on your plan.
- Add a short delay step before retrying, especially in high-volume workflows.

If retries continue to fail consistently, [contact Attio support](https://attio.com/help/reference/support/contact-attio-support) with the Zap run details and timestamps.
