Stay on top of important activity in Attio by controlling which updates you receive and how they’re delivered. You can customize alerts for actions like mentions, task assignments, and access requests, choosing to receive them by email or through the mobile app.

## Viewing notifications

You can find your **Notifications** by clicking the inbox icon next to search at the top of your sidebar. The inbox is split into **Notifications** and **Requests**.

Here you'll find different types of in-app alerts such as:

- @mentions in notes, comments, or tasks (click on the notification for details)
- Responses to your requests for email access (click **Accepted requests** to open the email in question)
- Replies to your comments
- Tasks assigned to you

- Quickly respond to requests by clicking **Accept** or **Deny**.
- Click on the request notification to bring up the email in question and view it.
- [Manage access to the email](https://attio.com/help/reference/email-calendar/sharing-emails) in the top right of the window.

## FAQ

### Why didn’t I get a notification for a task created via the API or another external source?

Attio only sends task notifications for tasks created inside the app. Tasks created externally, such as through the API or MCP, intentionally do not trigger notifications. This is designed to prevent unwanted notification spam in cases where large numbers of tasks are created automatically.

If having the option to enable notifications for externally created tasks would be helpful for your workflow, let us know at support@attio.com.
